UAVs used to deliver beer in Minnesota

March 25, 2014

Minnesota brewing company Lakemaid Beer recently posted a video on YouTube that showed a vision-enabled UAV navigating to an ice fishing hut to drop off a 12-pack of Lakemaid's Winter Lager. While there is no official ruling that UAV delivery is illegal, Lakemaid was still given a cease and desist order from the FAA. What do you think? In a relatively unpopulated area like where these folks were ice fishing, it would seem that UAVs or UAV deliveries wouldn't pose a huge risk, but maybe I am overlooking something here. Check out the UAV in action here.
