Baumer High-Performance Cameras Now with RF Mount
(July 1, 2026) By adding RF mount models to the high-performance cameras of the LX series, Baumer is setting new standards in industrial image processing. They transfer the RF mount feature established by Canon from mirrorless cameras to industrial applications.
The RF mount provides decisive benefits: compact design, the large aperture ability of modern lenses as well as fast and precise focusing via focus-by-wire. Thanks to licensing, the mount is mechanically and electrically fully integrated. External interfaces, cables and a separate power supply are no longer required.
RF mount cameras with up to 65 megapixel at 18 fps
The LX series offers up to 65 megapixel resolution at rates up to 18 frames per second, this way meeting the highest demands on speed and accuracy. All this in a reduced size: the new models with RF mount come in an almost 20 per cent shorter design than their EF mount predecessors. Variants in monochrome and color as well as sensor formats up to full format offer maximum flexibility.
Aperture and focus are directly camera-controlled in compliance to the Open Optics Camera Interface Standard (OOCI). OOCI extends the existing GenICam standard by commands for generic lens control directly by the camera. The main benefit is the still uniform, standardized camera interface allowing for seamless integration into the GenICam software. And last but not least, the versatile and globally available Canon lens portfolio at attractive price-performance ratio is another major key benefit for the Baumer solution. These lenses are the ideal match in various machine vision applications and by experience one can say that they will remain available for many years to come.
Versatile in use: pharmaceutical industry, automotive and sports
The innovative camera platform is suitable for numerous fields of application. In the pharmaceutical industry, for example, it enables efficient packaging aggregation in which products such as blister packs or folding boxes are reliably recorded and assigned. High-resolution images capture all relevant information such as data matrix codes or best-before dates in a single image - a decisive advantage for efficiency and process safety. In parallel, software-based adjustment of focus and aperture supports seamless documentation in compliance with directive requirements.
The new technology also plays to its strengths in automotive: Components of different height position are inspected with maximum flexibility and without mechanical modifications. A quick adaptation via software reduces downtime and increases production flexibility.
The LX series also opens up new potential in the sports industry. High-resolution image data enable precise analysis of motion, reaction time and situations in the game – even if highly dynamic and at various distances. This creates a solid basis for performance analysis and training optimization.
With the LX series with RF mount, Baumer is launching a pioneering camera generation that makes modern camera technology of the consumer world capable for industrial applications - thus setting standards for innovation, efficiency and flexibility.
