Medical image sensor from OmniVision provides HD images in tiny form factor

Touted by OmniVision as the world’s first medical image sensor to provide 1280 x 800 resolution in a 2.5 x 1.5 mm package, the OH01A CMOS image sensor features the PureCel Plus-S stacked-die architecture to provide the compact size, high resolution and cost effectiveness required for the next generation of disposable and reusable endoscopes and catheters, according to the company.

Touted by OmniVision as the world’s first medical image sensor to provide 1280 x 800 resolution in a 2.5 x 1.5 mm package, the OH01A CMOS image sensor features the PureCel Plus-S stacked-die architecture to provide the compact size, high resolution and cost effectiveness required for the next generation of disposable and reusable endoscopes and catheters, according to the company.

The 1 MPixel color image sensor is in a 1/11-inch format with a 1.116 µm pixel size and raw data output. The sensor offers 1280 x 800 resolution, which can be resized to 720p for HD (16:9 aspect ratio) or 800 x 800 for square displays, with both modes operating at 60 fps.
