In order to address the challenges that using machine vision technology in automation environments creates for integrators and engineers, Messe Stuttgart has announced that VISION 2014 has identified “VISION 4 Automation” as a key initiative of the trade fair.
The initiative is set to include a number of different events and areas, the first of which is the VISION 4 Automation Tour. Special logos will be given to the companies who have been identified as having expertise, products, or solutions in the area of machine vision for production automation. As of now, 20 exhibitors have been registered for the tour. The VISION 4 Automation Tour will include new product and technology demonstrations.

The VISION Academy will also support the VISION 4 Automation initiative with the “Practical knowledge of machine vision” forum, which will provide visitors with specialist knowledge, practical tips, and valuable insight on machine vision services. The academy will take a look at how machines can be made quicker, how projects can become more effective, and how product details can be shown in a more comprehensive and reliable manner. The events are aimed at machine vision end users, system integrators, and mechanical engineering companies.
Industrial VISION Days, an existing platform that provides a machine vision forum for attendees, will also have a topic cluster devoted specifically to machine vision for automation. The event, which is being organized by the VDMA Machine Vision Association, will offer specific application examples that highlight machine vision in use. Examples will include a self-driving car, 3D modeling, and a system that shows 100% inline surface and shape inspection of metallic micro-components.
