Beyond the Spiel: Castles, Cameras, and Curiosity in Germany
At the time of this writing, it’s about 24 hours before my husband and I set off for Germany for an exciting mix of work and exploration. From Oct. 6-8, I’ll be attending VISION 2026 in Stuttgart, a leading event that brings together innovators, experts, and industry leaders in machine vision and image processing. As head of content for Vision Systems Design, the conference is a valuable opportunity to explore emerging trends, hear from pioneering companies and thought leaders, and deepen my understanding of the vision systems industry.
VISION 2026 promises a rich lineup of exhibits and presentations showcasing everything from advanced cameras and sensors to AI-powered vision systems that are reshaping automation. I’m looking forward to gathering stories, insights, and perspectives that will help inform future articles, podcasts, and conversations about the machine vision landscape.
Before the conference begins, though, we're taking advantage of some extra time to visit Heidelberg, a city known for its history, architecture, and beautiful setting along the Neckar River. We even plan to have dinner at Heidelberg Castle, which should provide a memorable and relaxing counterpoint to the fast-paced innovation awaiting us in Stuttgart.
In many ways, this trip feels like a bridge between past and future. Heidelberg reflects centuries of history, discovery, and craftsmanship, while Stuttgart will offer a glimpse into technologies that are shaping what's next. Both, in their own way, tell stories of human ingenuity and the pursuit of new possibilities.
